In the Beginning…

Dear Ones, can we just say for a moment how amazing our God is!? At every turn he is surprising us. Do you feel that way too? Today we want to share with you an amazing parallel that we discovered in the bible.

Let’s start in Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Now let’s turn forward to John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

We've read Genesis many, many times, but when we saw the correlation in the same words being used in John 1:1 we had to look deeper! 🤯😊 In Genesis 1:1 the first four words form the foundation for our faith. God is mentioned first and should be the first in our life, first in our day, the first One that we turn to. When reading John 1:1 replace "Word" with Jesus and read it again. Pretty cool?! John 1:1 shows that Jesus was always in existence. He did not have a beginning but rather existed from all eternity. He was never created, He was there in the beginning, He was with God, He was God.

So, Jesus was with us from the beginning. God knew this all along. In Act 1, AKA the Old Testament He created, He gave life and light. Then we as humans lost all that through sin and darkness which lead to spiritual death. In Act 2, AKA the New Testament God gave us a redemption plan by making a way for life and light to be restored...enter our Savior Jesus! We can come out of the darkness and into the light through Jesus. Coming out of the darkness can happen in one monumental moment or it can happen in daily grace and forgiveness. Moment by moment we may need His mercy and it is always available to us, we just first need to draw near to Him in prayer.
