When Fear Threatens

There are moments in life when fear threatens to overtake us. It can happen in any situation and at any time. In these moments, it is so important to turn to the Lord and open his scripture. When we speak truth over the enemies lies we are strengthened and the lies don’t hold the power over us. The words in Isaiah 43:1 are words of comfort, spoken by God to the nation of Israel. These words apply to us today as well.

God tells us we are not to be afraid. We have been dead in our sins and separated from the Him – but He has redeemed us through the cross. We have been bought at a price, the ransom has been paid by our kinsman, our redeemer. The redemption price for our souls was the life of Jesus.

We are commanded by God to never be afraid because we have been delivered. He knows us intimately because He created us. He has called us out by name, we are His.

Isaiah 43:1-4 MESSAGE
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you.
I’ve called your name. You’re mine.
When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.
When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you’re between a rock and a hard place,
it won’t be a dead end—
Because I am God, your personal God,
The Holy of Israel, your Savior.
I paid a huge price for you:
all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in!
That’s how much you mean to me!
That’s how much I love you!
I’d sell off the whole world to get you back,
trade the creation just for you.

Friends, take comfort in these words when fear threatens. Find truth in them and be at peace.
