Giving God Our Firsts

What if we gave God the first of everything in our lives? We’re not just talking about money here. It goes deeper than dollar signs.

Giving him our “firsts” looks like the first moments of the day. The first day of our week. The first app opened on our phones. The first minutes of our workday. The first words of bedtime. It may seem like a lot, but really it’s just directing thoughts to Him throughout the day. In real time, it may look like this:

First moments of the day.
Thank you Lord for a new day! Lord walk before me today aligning my heart with your plans for me. I give my day to you Lord. Let your light shine through me as I encounter others throughout my day. In Jesus name, Amen.

First day of our week.
Head to church or watch online on Sunday!

First app opened on our phones.
Our favorites are Pray, Dwell, and Holy Bible. There is a daily devo and prayer for you to follow or you can pick from one of their Bible plans. Often we open an app and play it while getting ready first thing after turning off the alarm.

First minutes of our workday.
Lord I give this work to you. Guide my mind as I focus on the task at hand. Be in the midst of all meetings today and help ignite my creativity when I am feeling blocked. In Jesus name, Amen.

First words of bedtime.
Prayer time with your spouse and kids is a beautiful thing. Catch up on the day and then pray together.
